1. How can physical therapy help me?
Your physical therapist can evaluate your injury or condition and identify the source of dysfunction. Once you’ve been evaluated, your physical therapist will create a plan of treatment specifically for you.  Your plan of treatment may include manual therapy techniques and/or exercise, as well as other modalities if they are necessary. Your therapist may also create a home exercise program to address strengthening, range of motion, and proper body mechanics to help reduce the possibility of re-injury.

2. Can I choose where I receive my physical therapy?
Although your doctor may advise you, ultimately, as the consumer you have the right to make that decision.  We are proud to be a Physical Therapist owned private practice, featuring skilled and compassionate professionals and a friendly, nurturing environment.

3. How do I get started?
First, you will want to find out if your insurance requires a prescription and/or referral for physical therapy.  You can call the number on your insurance card and ask if you need a PCP referral for out-patient physical therapy services. If a prescription and/or referral is required, you will need this prior to your initial appointment.  If you are uncertain, feel free to give us a call, and we will be pleased to help you with your questions.

To schedule your first appointment, give us a call.  We will begin the registration process by collecting your insurance information, and it’s always helpful to have your insurance card handy.  If your injury is work related or motor vehicle, there will be additional information collected (i.e.- the insurance carrier, claim number, etc.)  This process only takes a few minutes, and once complete, we will set up your first appointment.  As an added convenience to our patients, our registration forms are available for download on our website. (See the “Registration Forms” feature on our Home Page.)

4. What should I expect to happen at my first visit?
If you’ve not already filled out our registration forms, please plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete these forms.  If your doctor gave you any paperwork, be sure to bring it with you, in addition to your insurance card (as we will make a photocopy of your card for your patient chart.)

Typically your first visit will be 60 minutes in length, allowing the necessary time for your Licensed Physical Therapist to learn about you and your injury, take various measurements, and determine, with you, the best course of treatment.  Each individual, along with their needs and injury, are unique.  It is our goal to devise a plan of care that will meet your needs for a timely return to function.

5. What should I wear?
We encourage patients to wear clothing that allows for comfort when stretching and exercising.  If your injury is to the knee, it is recommended that you bring along a pair of shorts or loose fitting sweat pants.

If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  One of our friendly staff members will be happy to answer your questions.
